Iomega eGo hard drives
Iomega has introduced the latest generation of eGo portable hard drives, with USB 2.0 support and capacities ranging from 250GB to 500GB. The 2.5-inch drives are housed in an anodized aluminum shell measuring 16 mm thick. The company's Drop Guard system is claimed to protect against drops of up to 51 inches. Power is drawn from the USB port, while an included 'Y' cable connects to a second available port if additional current is needed.
For a greater level of impact protection, the BlackBelt integrates the eGo Power Grip Belt and Drop Guard Extreme. The company claims the device can survive a fall from a height of 84 inches.
Each eGo portable hard drive is compatible with Mac or Windows systems and includes backup software. The 250GB model is available with a red shell for $85, while the 320GB capacity can be purchased in red, blue or silver colors for $95. The 500GB red eGo carries a price of $135, or the 500GB BlackBelt can be obtained later in June for $140.
