Samsung i7500 1st in July

Samsung's i7500 Android phone will bow first through a French carrier and under a new name. Bouygues Telecom today said it would carry the device rebadged as the Galaxy and expects to offer it in early July. Whether Bouygues' version will be any different from stock isn't clear, as is pricing, though it's likely to use Google's stock configuration.

The timing gives Bouygues the first official launch of the i7500 and supports beliefs that the Samsung phone may ship in the fall for T-Mobile USA, possibly picking up a Houdini name instead. The phone is already notable for supporting 3G over the 1,700MHz HSPA standard needed for the American carrier's network.

Besides this, the phone is functionally superior to the HTC Magic and will center on a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen that produces more vivid colors and saves battery life compared to the HTC device's screen. A 5-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and 8GB of built-in storage are also core to the design. [via Unwired View]
