Apricorn intros Aegis Desktop storage, up to 1.5TB

Apricorn has introduced its latest storage device, the Aegis Desktop. The device integrates a 7200RPM SATA drive, with capacities up to 1.5TB and an 8MB buffer. An eSATA interface is claimed to support transfer speeds of up to 300 MBps, while a USB 2.0 connection is capable transfer speeds of up to 480mbps. The drive is housed in an aluminum enclosure with swivel feet that can be tucked away for horizontal orientation.

The Aegis Desktop requires Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Mac OS 9.2 or higher. The 500GB package costs $120, while the 1TB drive is on sale for $145 and the 1.5TB configuration carries a price of $230. Customers can also purchase an empty enclosure for $50.
