White MacBook 2 13GHz

Apple this morning quietly updated the plastic white MacBook to give it specifications that are at times better than the current aluminum model. It now has a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo, up from 2GHz, and now carries the same 160GB hard drive as the entry aluminum system. The 2GB of onboard DDR2 memory now runs at 800MHz instead of 667MHz.

The system continues to use GeForce 9400M video and has options to upgrade to as much as 4GB of memory and 500GB of hard drive space. Apple still prices the MacBook at $999 and is taking orders immediately through the online Apple Store.

Slow clock.

MY white MacBook runs at 2.2 GHz. Memory is at 667 though, and video is only GMA X3100.

OK ok, I admit that these new white MacBooks are a lot better than my old one, despite that mine has a faster clock.

How is a .13Ghz difference even news worthy. Just because the topic is MAC doesn't mean people are going to gobble it up.

FireWire, baby!

While the unibody MacBooks are real purdy, these will continue to be a great deal and FireWire makes them the ONLY MacBook I'd consider.

Let's hope Apple smartens up and puts FireWire in the unibodies where it SHOULD be!
