BFG Phobos with Core i7
BFG Technologies has announced that its Phobos Advanced and Elite edition gaming and home theater computer systems now integrate Intel's Core i7 950 and 975 processors, respectively. The Advanced version features a liquid cooling system for the CPU, along with three 1GB GeForce GTX 285 GPUs and two 300GB Velociraptor hard drives. The basic configuration also includes 6GB of DDR3 memory and Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
The Elite variant includes two 1.79GB GeForce GTX 295 GPUs, along with a 1GB GeForce GTX 285 dedicated to PhysX processing. The base system also ships with 6GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
All of the Phobos systems provide system status overview from a small display on the front of the case, while cables exit the bottom instead of the back of the system.
The Phobos Advanced computers start at $5000, while the Elite edition is available for $8000. Customers have a choice between a variety of custom configurations, while in-home installation is included for free.
