GreatCall on Tuesday the new Jitterbug J cell phone is now available across the US. It brings a clamshell design to the simplified design with large-sized buttons and self-evident functions that render it easier to use for both younger and older owners. It continues to have a unique customer support infrastructure with 24/7 help that can dial numbers for clients and enable or disable services as users wish, or even enter numbers into their phonebooks for them. A MyCalendar feature will be added sometime this summer that can be updated by users via MyJitterbug website or by calling a Jitterbug operator, with the updates coming to the handset over the air.
The Jitterbug J includes Bluetooth, a speakerphone and text-messaging capabilities and users can personalize ring tones and screen colors. A unique service includes LiveNurse, which gives users 24/7 access to a registered nurse and a library of information regarding health-related topics. A $9-per-month Jitterbug Complete Care package includes roadside assistance, no questions asked handset replacement and LiveNurse.
Available in graphite or white, the Jitterbug J is priced at $147 contract-free and includes a free car charger, though there is a $35 activation fee. Monthly rate plans range from $15 for 50 anytime minutes to $80 for 1,000 anytime minutes and 500 nights and weekend minutes. Pre-paid plans cost between $0.05 and $0.35 per minute.
