Acer F1, L1 at Computex

Acer has been showing two of its Tempo-series handsets, codenamed F1 and L1, first shown at CES in January, at the Computex show in Taiwan. The display model for the F1 revealed some of the smartphone's specs, including a particularly quick 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional for its operating system. It also centers on a large 3.8-inch, 800x480 touchscreen.

The F1 will otherwise support 7.2Mbps HSPA networks for 3G and include both GPS and Wi-Fi. A full-size 3.5mm headphone jack and an FM tuner should boost its audio credentials. Seeing the handset at Computex also revealed an 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. Another screenshot revealed a Windows icon on a shopping bag, suggesting access to Windows Marketplace for Mobile will be available from the outset for buying apps.

At the same time, the L1 handset was also at Computex in the Acer booth. It also runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional but a smaller 2.8-inch touchscreen and a slide-out keypad.

Both handsets are expected to ship in September, though this is not official. [via Unwired View]
