BBerry Tour May Ship Aug

Verizon's edition of the BlackBerry Tour may be postponed by as much as a month if a leak proves true. Previous reports have the smartphone shipping on July 13th, but a sales representative claims it won't ship until mid-August at the earliest. Why such a delay would occur isn't made clear.

That Verizon is close to unveiling its version of the Tour is supported by a purported internal company e-mail that adds the BlackBerry Tour to the list. It also mentions the Palm Pre, though this isn't expected to ship in a Verizon-ready model until January due to Sprint's 2009 exclusive.

The Tour blends traits of the Bold and the Curve 8900 and has the former's keyboard but the latter's slightly taller, 480x360 screen and side profile. Both 3G and GPS are also brought over from both phones. Rumors of a touchscreen are believed false as early, leaked samples from this spring lack that input.
