Palm Pre Review

We’ve spent the last few days playing with the newly released Palm Pre and can’t seem to put it down. It's one of the first phones outside of Apple to offer true multi-touch, and perhaps the only phone to make Internet data the centerpiece. In a word, we would say we are impressed; but the Pre as a first-edition model is certainly not without its faults both in hardware and, to a lesser extent, software. Whether these faults are enough to dissuade customers from considering the device over an iPhone -- or simply to opt for it in place of a BlackBerry or Windows Mobile phone -- is the ultimate question in our complete review.

No battery life mention

The biggest complaint I've heard about the Pre is that the battery life is horrid, probably due to that multitasking the review lauded.

Then don't multi-task.

Wow, think of it! Having the option to do something and deciding whether the rewards are worth the cost!

Please stop re-posting every article from Electronista on the MacNN home page. If I wanted to read Electronista, I'd go there.

I'm still in recession-mode... don't exactly want to start a big dataplan bill just now.

looks great, though, Palm has a real winner on their hands.

Voicemail? $199?

06/15, 11:15am reply

I can't for the life of me figure out how so many so called professionals review the Palm Pre and list it's retail price at $199 which is incorrect.

And you make sure to address the Pre having a mariginally better ringtone manager than the iPhone - but completely ignore the absence of visual voicemail? Did people all of a sudden start using ringtones instead of voicemail to leave audio messages for each other?
