Kingston releases first 128GB USB flash memory drive

Storage device maker Kingston Technology on Monday announced it has released a new USB flash drive series, the DataTraveler 200, with the first-ever 128GB USB flash drive available. The range also offers 32GB and 64GB models. All have password protection in the form of Password Traveler security software for Windows. The DT200s have a capless design, with the USB connector retracting into the device's body for protection.
The drives are compatible with Windows' Vista's ReadyBoost feature, allowing it to be used as cache memory to speed up system performance. Kingston warns turning on the ReadyBoost feature will disable the password protection feature. All DT200 drives work with Mac OS X for regular storage.
The 32GB DT200 is priced at $120, the 64GB version at $213 and the built-to-order 128GB drive costs $546.

The Kingston 128 GB USB Flash Drive is hardly the first one ever available. Several others have been available for some time, including the Corsair.
