Super Talent outs SSDs

Flash storage and DRAM memory maker Super Talent on Thursday announced it has released its MasterDrive SX solid state drive lineup with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacity drives. All are designed for speed and have an unusually large 128MB of cache, an 8-channel controller and a Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND design that promises density along with speed. The 64GB MasterDrive SX SSD is rated at 200MBps read speeds and 120MBps write speeds, while the larger capacity versions can manage 220MBps read and 200MBps sequential write speeds.

Apart from the speed benefits and inherent ruggedness advantages of its latest line of SSDs, Super Talent touts power efficiency as another plus. The drives are said to use up just 0.5W of power in read mode and 0.15W in idle. The 128GB MasterDrive SX is available now at NewEgg, priced at about $336. Prices for the other capacities have not been announced.
