Canon 1D Mark IV specs
Some preliminary (but unconfirmed) specs of the upcoming Canon D1 Mark IV digital SLR camera have been revealed by an alledged camera beta tester, according to a Friday PhotographyBay report. The source claims the shooter will feature a 1.3x crop sensor and be capable of capturing approximately 16-megapixel images. An sRAW1 format will shoot 8-megapixel images which are apparently better than those shot by the 1D Mark III in terms of detail. ISO sensitivity will range from 50 to 26,500, with the tester reporting the 3,200 setting produces very clean images while images taken at ISO 6,400 and 12,800 are responsive to processing.
As for subjective speed ratings, the user indicates the burst shooting mode is a little faster than the 1D Mark III in real-life shooting, while the autofocus is said to be "Nikon-fast" in low-light conditions. The LiveView autofocus, letting users frame shots via the LCD screen instead of the viewfinder, like on point-and-shoot cameras, is said to be very usable for all types of shooting other than where fast motion is involved.
The 3.0-inch LCD is said to be lifted straight from the 5D Mark II and the HD video recording capability is said to mirror that of the same shooter as well. There are otherwise slightly rearranged buttons in the name of improved ergonomics.
If true, pre-production samples are already making the rounds and Canon's near-flagship DSLR is on-pace for its rumored August release date.

Of course, the 50D also takes surprisingly usable shots at 3,200ISO and won't set you back several thousand dollars more. :-)
