Samsung C14 priced, outed
Samsung on Friday announced in has launched its SMX-C14 pocket camcorder, which was announced at the end of April. The camcorder, which features a lens angled 25 degrees off vertical to help alleviate wrist strain when recording videos, weighs just a third of a pound and comes with 16GB of built-in flash memory in addition to an SDHC memory card slot. The built-in memory can store 6 hours and 20 minutes of high-definition, H.264 format video. The C14 can also capture still images in 1600x1200 resolution.
The C14 sports a 10X optical zoom and a slow-motion mode for time-lapse videography. The same Touch of Color paint theme as found on Samsung's HDTVs makes for a two-tone, fading color on the camera.
Users can perform rudimentary edits on the camera, while a dedicated Upload button begins the process of transferring the captured video to YouTube. The recordings can be shared with other users and transferred without the need to install any software. Charging the battery and synchronizing with PCs is done via a USB connection. A full charge is good for 2 hours and 40 minutes of recording time.
The SMX-C14 is now available in Samsung's home market of Korea in red, blue or gray for the equivalent of about $310.
