LodgeNet to launch IPTV+

LodgeNet Interactive has announced a new IPTV+ system designed for use with the Mac mini. The product is geared for hotels and provides guests with access to a variety of HD or SD on-demand video, including web-based or television-based content, and an Interactive Program Guide. LodgeNet IPTV+ also offers hotel owners the option to integrate custom applications for content such as branded graphics, marketing materials or in-room booking for additional hotel services.

The system utilizes the Mini's NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor to provide animated effects and layering for video or images. The platform is claimed to be environmentally friendly, matching the EPA's EnergyStar 5.0 specification, while an energy-saving function consumes less than 13 watts of electricity at idle.

The LodgeNet IPTV+ is compatible with LodgeNet360 and will run on a single IP network. The company will be showcasing the product at HITEC 2009 in Anaheim from June 23rd to the 25th.
