Sprint adds new handsets

Wireless provider Sprint on Monday has announced it has added the LG LX370 and Samsung Exclaim handsets to its lineup. The former is an entry-level vertical slider while the Exclaim is a dual-slider that open horizontally to reveal a QWERTY keyboard or vertically to offer a numeric keypad. Either connects to Sprint's 3G network to access many online features and services, including social networking sites through customizable shortcuts. A 2-megapixel camera and Bluetooth are also shared by the two handsets.

The LG LX370 has GPS navigation functionality with on-screen, turn-by-turn direction. An integrated MP3 players accesses music from a microSD memory card slot. Users can also download tracks from the Sprint Music Store and access Sprint TV for live and on-demand programs. A 2.5mm headset jack lets users plug in headphones or headsets. Users can also record a voice message and send it to up to 25 contacts without making a call.

The Samsung Exclaim focuses on social networking and has shortcuts to Facebook and MySpace already pre-loaded on the home screen in the One Click interface. One Click Twitter access can also be added. These allow users to check status updates, monitor friends or news feed and manage status and access other features of each social network.

Sprint's TV service is also supported, as is a GPS navigation service. There is a music download service and player, with users able to store audio tracks on the included 512MB microSD memory card.

The LG LX370 is priced at $100 after a mail-in rebate, an instant discount and on a new two-year contract. Offered in blue and red, the Samsung Exclaim is now available, priced at $80 on a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
