Motorola Karma reaches AT&T

updated 10:00 am EDT, Tue June 23, 2009

Moto Karma at ATT

AT&T today jumped at Motorola's messaging phone lines with the addition of the Karma QA1. Like the Hint, it has an unusual, squat design with a QWERTY keyboard that slides out vertically instead of horizontally; the form factor is supported by front-end links to Facebook and MySpace as well as IM chat on multiple networks. In an unusual turn for this class of phone, the Karma also has a native 3.5mm headset jack and microSDHC for music listening.

Elsewhere, the slider sits firmly in AT&T's mid-range with world 3G data over HSPA, a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth and assisted GPS that can be used with AT&T Navigator. AT&T intends to keep the price down and sells the Karma for $80 when paired with a two-year contract, a rebate and a combination of voice and data worth $60 per month or more. Motorola's device should reach stores on June 28th.
