PS3 MGS Killzone 2 Bundle

A new bundle slipped out by Best Buy staffers suggests Sony is aggressively trying to clear stock ahead of the slim PlayStation 3 overhaul. Confirmed through box shots sent to Kotaku, the promo will see a current-generation 80GB PS3 packed with both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 at the same $400 price as the regular model. The deal is unusual as Killzone is still considered a new title and normally costs $60 by itself.

No reports have surfaced of the deal yet showing up for sale, but it should be in stores no later than Sunday, the employees say.

Sony has regularly resorted to selling games at discounted prices to move consoles, such as bundles in Europe and North America that include Little Big Planet, but has rarely included more than one major title in these packs and usually reserves a movie or a clearance game for the second spot. The 160GB PS3 has often included a copy of Uncharted, but usually to help justify the $100 price difference between this and the regular 80GB version.

Most observers expect at least the 80GB console, if all existing versions, to be replaced by the slim model in 120GB trim at a lower price sometime in August.
