Samsung's 11.6-inch Ion-based netbook due July?

Samsung Ion netbook dated

The N510 11.6-inch netbook from Samsung that was recently leaked and powered by the NVIDIA Ion platform and an Intel Atom N-series CPU will be released sometime in July, DigiTimes reported on Monday. The netbook should be be powered by a 1.66GHz Atom processor, include 1GB of memory and house a 160GB hard drive. It will still ship with Windows XP, instead of Vista, despite Intel's netbook rules that call for XP.

At the same time, because the new netbook will be larger than Intel's restriction of a maximum of 10.2 inches, Intel has allegedly cancelled Samsung's preferential pricing for its N270 Intel Atom CPUs. The chipmaker did the same when Lenovo launched its 12-inch netbook, the IdeaPad S12, in June.

As previously reported, the N510 is expected to cost about $800.
