Mitsubishi, Vudu team up

Starting July 16th, Mitsubishi will give buyers of the majority of its TVs a Vudu HD set-top box and $50 of movie credits. The promotion will run until August 10th at stores carrying Mitsubishi sets and effectively provides a $200 discount on the combo. Vudu offers over 2,000 high-definition movies from more than 40 studios and distributors and gives users renting or purchase options for the content.

"We simply wanted to provide a value-add bundle other than Blu-ray, something new and exciting for our retailers," said Frank DeMartin, Mitsubishi's marketing VP.

Retailers usually bundle HDTVs with high-definition Blu-ray players or DVD players, and this marks the first such offering from a TV manufacturer for accessing online content. [via Twice]

    Video on Demand

I think this is great. TV over airwaves is dying. The next logical step is TV on demand. I would certainly use this device if I could get DVD quality video and sound.
