Apple Store Rideau Opening

Apple today officially opened Apple Store Rideau, its first store in Ottawa and first outside of the wider Toronto Area in Ontario. Electronista and MacNN had witnesses on hand to cover the opening and can note that the store is relatively unique: it uses Apple's latest retail design and, like the Scottsdale, Arizona store, has a contiguous glass front rather than the side windows common to many older stores. It also has a central iMac kiosk dedicated to booking Concierge appointments, a central "pillar" for accessories and a large Genius Bar. The design is believed to be one of the larger in-mall layouts Apple has made.

The first in line reported arriving at 5AM, and by the time the store opened the line was long enough to leave the mall itself, winding around the street. An unofficial tally had "hundreds" queued for the event. The line had completely cleared within about an hour of opening, but the store was still very busy at this stage.

Wow! How is it that the Ottawa store is much larger than the Vancouver store? I haven't been to the Vancouver store, but from people's pictures, it's just a small rectangular box. Ottawa's looks twice the size. C'mon upgrade the Vancouver one! :)
