ASUS Eee PC T101 delayed

The launch of the touchscreen 10-inch Eee PC T101 notebook tablet from ASUS will be delayed until September, according to a Monday DigiTimes report. The new tentative date is much later than the originally scheduled June release. The netbook tablet may not see the light of day at all, however, if sales of the recently released T91 tablet netbook don't meet sales goals. The T91 is slightly smaller than the T101, at 8.9 inches, but retains many of the same features and specs.

ASUS may also delay other future tablet netbooks, including the T101, scale down their production or cancel production altogether, the sources claimed.

Potential pricing for the T101 remains unknown, though it is expected to be higher than the T91's $500 price tag. Both offer a 1.33GHz Atom CPU with 1GB of RAM, and support for 2GB. Storage space will come from a 16GB SSD drive and an included SD memory card. ASUS will offer 20GB of online storage space free of charge for 18 months, with a monthly fee afterwards.

While the T91 ships with Windows XP bundled with touchscreen software made especially for ASUS, the T101 will include Windows 7 with native touch support.
