Toshiba digital frames

Toshiba on Monday announced it has partnered up with FrameChannel, a web-based digital photo frame integration service, to bring weather, news and sports info, as well as uploaded photos to its new line of Digital Media Frames. There is an 8-inch frame and 10-inch frame offered. Videos and music uploaded to the FrameChannel servers will also get transferred to the frames.

Via FrameChannel, users can also link photos uploaded to other hosting sites such as Flickr, Photobucket and Facebook. Multiple friends and family members can view new photos uploaded to connected accounts. FrameChannel also produces more than 1,000 free channels in 19 categories, some of which can be shown on the frames' home screens and provide updates. Subscribing to the channels automatically updates real-time information.

The frames have a tilt senor for automatically adjusting landscape or portrait image orientation. Navigating home screens is done via home screens that have touch-sensitive controls that illuminate when touched. The home screen can show a calendar, clock and selected feature channels.

The 8-inch DMF82X will be available in black or white, priced at $180, while the 10-inch DMF102X can be had in black only for $230. All begin shipping in August.
