Samsung watch phone due

It looks like LG's GD910 watch phone won't have the market all to itself, as Samsung is soon planning to make its own splash in the category with its S9110. Touted as the world’s thinnest, at just about 0.47 thick, the device will have a built-in speakerphone and Bluetooth support for syncing to compatible headsets and headphones. Users will interface with the device via a 1.76-inch touchscreen, although there will be voice recognition.

An integrated music player and support for Outlook e-mail sync round out the features. The device will also have a scratch-resistant screen, a stainless steel body and leather wrist belt. Compared to the LG offering, the Samsung gives up a video camera for recording or conferencing, as well as high-speed 7.2Mbps HSDPA support. The LG device also sports text-to-speech capabilities, but has a smaller, 1.43-inch color LCD touchscreen.

S9110 will be made available in France at an unspecified date for the equivalent of $639. [via SamsungHub]
