Maingear eX-L notebook boasts Core 2 Extreme, 2 GPUs

Maingear on Thursday introduced its latest high-end notebook, the eX-L 18, featuring dual 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPUs and an 18.4-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution. CPU options include several Core 2 Duo components up to 2.8GHz, along with the quad-core Core 2 Extreme running at 2.53GHz.

Customers can add up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, while three hard drive bays support storage capacities up to 1.5TB, while an eSATA connection can be used to attach external storage. Each configuration offers a dedicated TOSlink optical port, enabling 7.1-channel audio output. The notebooks also offer 802.11n and Bluetooth connectivity, FireWire ports and HDMI outputs.

The eX-L 18 notebooks ship with Windows Vista Premium and a free Windows 7 upgrade. A variety of customizations are available, including laser etching of a customer-provided logo or image. The systems start at $3,000, while the premium configuration fetches $5,980.
