Orb BT headset is a ring
A solution to the problem of storing a Bluetooth headset when not in use has been put forth by a team effort between Hybra Advance Technology and AbsolutelyNew in the form of the Orb. The headset will twist into a ring a user can wear on his or her finger when not using the device for making calls or listening to music. It uses NXT technology to deliver bone conduction audio to a user's ear without requiring the user to jam it into their ear.
There will also be a Deluxe version of the headset that sports a Flexible Organic Light Emitting Device (FOLED) screen that displays caller ID, calendar reminders and voice-to-text information, all while the device is still sitting on a user's finger; FOLED will let the display curve with the ring rather than require a flat surface. Different sizes will be available to fit a variety of fingers. There will also be a Limited edition of the Orb that users can outfit with precious stones of their choosing.
The basic Orb will be launched in January of 2010 for $129, while the Deluxe will cost $175 when it launches April. Limited versions will come out in April, though its price will depend on the stone specified in their construction. [via GizMag]
