MS Store designs leaked

Layout designs of Microsoft's upcoming retail stores have been leaked in a PowerPoint Presentation. According to Gizmodo, the presentation was drafted by Lippicott, a "design and brand strategy" consultant firm reportedly hired by Microsoft to help further the concept and design of the stores. The leak indicates Microsoft will be borrowing elements from other retailers such as the Apple Store and Sony Style. The stores will center around Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7, Xbox, PCTV, and Windows Mobile.

Frank Shaw and Waggener Edstrom, Microsoft employees, commented on the leaked presentation stating, "As a part of our process in briefing creative agencies, we shared some early prototypes and concepts of our retail store plans. No final decisions have been made."

Microsoft plans to target a customer demographic they call "Emily," who is described by Gizmodo as "a younger version of your mom."

The prototype designs indicate there will be a Digital Media Wall that wraps around the store, used to display video and images. The designs indicate the stores will provide a rival to Apple's Genius Bar with its own "Answers Bar" or "Guru Bar." The stores will additionally host large demos and events regarding Project Natal and the reported project Pink. The stores will also host birthday parties.

Answer bar? Did they dream that up all by themselves? I wonder if they have recycle bins too.

It'll be the same...

...as the Apple store. Except when having ppl lined up with iPod/iPhone questions, it'll be an even bigger line of ppl w/ RRoD Xbox 360s.

Emily should watch her rear. lol.

I like to think of Emily as the little girl that Billy Boy plans to kidnap after using his Windows store to attract ignorant children.

Of all the things they could have done and once again they just fall back on Apple concepts. Sad, sad days.

WIndows is a copy of OS 6 or 7, the Zune is copy of the iPod and why not an Answer bar I hope it has geniuses who can make Windows work. Why not a copy of the Apple store? It's better than copying the now defunct Gateway or Dell stores.

  1. What exactly are they going to sell? Oh, that's right, 10 different versions of Windows 7.

    2. Can you even imagine the line of people with Windows problems? Seriously, what are they going to do? People are going to come in with part-built PCs and 4 different Windows installs on top of one another and ask why something doesn't work.

    3. And dumbasses - a "Younger version of my mom" wants a Mac and an iPod. Been in an Apple store lately?

The bathrooms will be..

...in the shape of a brown Zune

On the back of the stall doors, there will be video screens with Steve Ballmer doing the "developers, developers, developers" monkey dance so you won't sit there too long... given that a lot of people will be suffering nausea and worse after seeing the store...
