ASUS releases Eee PC 1004DN in Taiwan

ASUS Eee PC 1004DN now out
ASUS is now selling its Eee PC 1004DN in Taiwan, a Monday NetbookNews report says. The 10.2-inch netbook sports a 1024x600 resolution display and a 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of RAM, with its unique in-class feature being a DVD burner. It is also the only netbook to sport Intel's GN40 chipset, complete with the GMA 4500 integrated graphics processor.
Storage space comes from a 120GB 1.8-inch hard drive, while a fingerprint scanner ensures security. There is a Wi-Fi connection, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, an ExpressCard 34 slot, a multi-touch touchpad and three USB 2.0 ports. Despite the inclusion of the graphics processor and optical drive, ASUS rates the six-cell battery life at the same 5.9 hours as other Eee PC netbooks. Weight is slightly higher, however, at 3.2lbs.
Equivalent pricing in Taiwan for the 1004DN is set at $608. A US release is expected soon.
