LG Chocolate BL40 Official
LG tonight at last confirmed some details of the first-ever touchscreen phone in its Chocolate line. Now known to be the BL40, the device revolves around a one-off 4-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio display with an 800x345 resolution that makes it ideal for watching movies without cropping or losing interface elements. While narrower than some 800x480 phones, the ratio permits an unusual twin view option that can show two types of content simultaneously.
Most other details were absent but through the photos do confirm a 5-megapixel camera. Given LG's confirmation of additional rumors, the BL40 should also involve 7.2Mbps 3G support, GPS and Wi-Fi as well as microSDHC card storage. As a Chocolate device, it's considered a music phone and should be positioned as a rival to the iPhone, though it lacks a true smartphone OS.
The Korean company did say that the Chocolate BL40 would ship before the end of the summer and land in 54 countries. Both the US and Canada are believed to come during or soon after that timeframe thanks to both a Verizon leak for a CDMA model as well strong hints of a Telus version due when that carrier activates its HSPA 3G network in the fall.

Um, why exactly can a 800x345 display "show two types of content simultaneously" but a 800x480 display cannot? In the worst case, you have a black band top & bottom, or put some controls there, but you can still display the content...

Why is this in with Mac news? What self respecting Mac user would be dumb enough to buy an LG?

What self respecting mac owner would own an LG phone? I would. How about toning down the fan boy mentality dummy. Exclusive contract with one of the worst carriers in the industry, how is that for a reason not to go with apple?
