OCZ 1TB SSD

OCZ has announced pricing information and a launch time-frame for its 1TB Colossus SSD introduced at Computex last month. The drive is relatively large, with a weight of 400g, although it is designed to fit in a standard 3.5-inch drive bay. The company claims read speeds of up to 250MB/s and write speeds of 200MB using a SATA II interface.

The drive integrates two separate SSD components arranged in a RAID 0 configuration and driven by a JMicron controller. OCZ also plans to offer a less-expensive 512GB variant in the near future.

With a $2,500 price tag, the Colossus 1TB is still aimed at the high-end and enterprise markets. Customers will be able to purchase the drive sometime in mid August. [via Gizmag]
