MS Wireless Desktop 5000

Microsoft today rolled out its first modern wireless desktop intended for comfort first. The Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 combines a more specifically designed ergonomic curve in the keyboard itself as well as a softened palm rest to keep it use for hours at a time with less risk of pain. Although not tied to any particular operating system, it's one of Microsoft's first combination kits optimized for Windows 7 and turns the My Favorites keys into Taskbar Favorites, automatically switching to open apps based on their relative position.

Like newer Microsoft combination sets, the 5000 also gets a BlueTrack mouse whose blue tracking laser can work on more surfaces than usual red lasers. Both connect to a given computer using a single, small 2.4GHz RF transceiver friendly to the USB ports of both desktops and notebooks.

Plans have the Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 shipping later this month for $80; it's available today as a pre-order from Amazon.

Too bad it's not bluetooth, but the price is pretty attractive.

    Re: yeesh

OK, what color would you have them pick?
    - Aluminum: Now they're copying Apple
    - Beige: So 1990's
    - Red: Oh, right, now we're getting into iPod coloring?
    - White: Shows dirt way too easy. AND copying Apple from 5 years ago.
    - Brown: Time for brown Zune/t*** jokes!

So, basically, there really isn't a color they could pick that would not warrant some type of negative comment.

And maybe you didn't notice, Apple's keyboards on their laptops are Black. With an clashing aluminum border.

    different widths

that looks like an interesting keyboard the keys are different widths. i've never seen that before.

Dpending on how it feels, this one could be a contender. (By the way, I think transparent would be good)
