Zune HD UI Image Leak

A handful of images have leaked today of the Zune HD ahead of a more official announcement for the device expected later today. Aside from confirming a black color in addition to the known silver, the shots also show that the music player has a significantly reworked music interface that lets users browse content more visually than on current Zunes, which only show a very small thumbnail. They also show the interface for HD Radio's sub-channels and replace early shots' "more" menu item with an "Internet" item, hinting that all non-Marketplace features, like web browsing, will go into that category.

The link to past rumors suggests that the players will be targeted at the high end of the media player market and will come only in 16GB and 32GB capacities. Separate beliefs have also pegged the Zune HD as shipping in early September and having prices that could start from $249. These were tentative at the time, however, and may have changed since.

to say, "wow".

Congratulations MS. You've really created an iPod-killer this time.

Can't MS NOT copy?

No offense to Japan, but MS's business plan seems to be a copy of theirs from the 50's, where many Japanese products were a cheap imitation of some US product.

Wow, they even copied their business plan!

slightly better

They appear to have fixed the most basic of UI errors their previous screenshots demonstrated, namely the clipping of their default menu items along the right and bottom.

I wonder how weird their coverflow but not exactly like coverflow will be...

lost

I got lost in that main menu display... could anything be more hideous... did they blindfold their design team and just tell them to randomly spray albums and text across the screen!?!?

What is wrong with..

08/04, 05:23pm reply

What is wrong with everyone here? Does no one have the ability to post without sarcasm or vitriol against MS?

People b**** about the Zune looking like the iPod Touch. Well, how exactly is any other touch-based player going to be different considering they all have a plate of glass on the front that covers the largest percentage of the player?

Before any other dolt complains about copying the design, how about coming up with an alternative that is viable?

Ballmer, is that you?

Is lamewing an alias for Ballmer?

You don't really think we are going to do your design work for you, do you?

Good try!

oh lame

it's not the form, it's the function. didn't you catch the video the other day? it IS an iPod touch. down to the fricking categories in their "app" store.

an alternative that is viable? uh, wouldn't that be ballmer's job?

anyway, if we did, ms would just copy it.
