Palm Pre 150 at The Shack

Radio Shack is planning to kick off its rebranding to The Shack with the first planned price drop for the Palm Pre. Unlike Best Buy's accidental price cut last weekend, an internal memo shows the smartphone temporarily dropping to $150 for new Sprint subscribers beginning today and ending on Sunday. The deal needs at least a $70 Everything Data plan or higher.

Sprint has so far maintained a $200 price for the Pre since its June launch and is unofficially suspected of having been hurt by the choice, as the iPhone 3GS costs the same amount but has twice as much storage and has negated some of the Palm smartphone's early advantage. Rumors have Best Buy potentially launching an official sale of the Pre to bring it back to $100 and help keep it competitive with at least the same-price iPhone 3G. [via PreThinking]
