Dell briefly teases 10-inch Vostro notebook

Dell Vostro 10 Inch Teaser

Dell today provided a brief (now unavailable) teaser on Flickr of an impending but unannounced Vostro portable. Labeled only as a "Vostro 10-inch notebook," the computer borrows stylistically from newer Inspirons but, despite being small and thin, doesn't appear to be a netbook; it has an internal tray-loading optical drive and a relatively large amount of expansion. It would come in both a conservative black as well as cherry red and blue.

Unsurprisingly, the since-pulled images don't provide a clue as to the internal specifications, though the absence of references to mini notebooks or netbooks may mean it uses faster parts, such as Intel's CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) processors and matching graphics. These could give it long battery life without as much of a performance hit as an Atom processor.

Release dates are also vague, though a strange preview from Dell in June showed an unnamed, undescribed thin notebook that at least superficially resembles the new photos. If a CULV system, rumors have the new PC launching this month.
