Pre at O2 on October 30th?

A Tuesday MyPre report maintains UK wireless provider O2 will release the Palm Pre handset on October 30th, citing sources at the provider. According to the unnamed insider, O2 management informed O2's staff about the release date on Monday, though pricing has not yet been set. The source did say purchase pricing will be close to that of the iPhone 3GS, with the same monthly rates.

Just which iPhone 3GS pricing the Pre is supposed to mimic is not known. A 16GB iPhone 3G S costs the equivalent of $144 via O2 on a two-year contract at about $57 per month, so a Palm Pre should be priced similarly. The 32GB version sells for about twice, or $290, with the same term and monthly fee.

The O2 Pre will be the first version of the handset to run on GSM networks, and O2 will also be the first provider to offer both the Pre and iPhone 3GS to its subscribers.
