Zune HD accessories

Following the official confirmation of a launch date and pricing information for the upcoming Zune HD, Microsoft has also detailed a number of accessories. The AV Dock can be used to play 720p movies, TV shows and videos from the portable device to an HDTV without sacrificing the HD resolution.

The dock also allows users to play music through a home audio system , while the device is automatically charged when connected. A wireless remote can be used to control the Zune and navigate through content.

The Premium Car Pack integrates a dock connector and plugs into a vehicle's 12-volt outlet. Music is streamed from the Zune through an FM tuner, with an auto-seek feature to find the best frequency. A USB port can be used to charge another Zune or other portable devices.

The HD Power Pack provides an AC adapter for charging the device, along with an AV output cable to connect a home audio system. The package also includes an HDMI cable for playing videos through an HDTV.

Each of the accessories will be available on the same day as the Zune HD launch, September 15th, while pre-orders can be placed with select retailers such as Amazon. The AV Dock carries a $90 price tag, while the Premium Car Pack can be purchased for $80 and the Power Pack commands $50.
