Acer Veriton N260G nettop
Acer on Tuesday announced it will soon begin shipping its new Veriton N260G ultra-compact nettop in the US. Meant for use in classrooms or tightly-spaced offices, it can be VESA-mounted to the back of an LCD display or placed right on desks thanks to its retractable stand. Power comes from Intel's 1.66GHz Atom, 1GB of standard memory that can be doubled, Intel's GMA 4500M graphics and a 160GB hard drive that contains Windows XP Professional, although a recovery disc with Windows Vista Business is included.
While similar to the AspireRevo for the home, the Veriton includes OneButton Recovery through a pinhole reset that restores the system and lets users retrieve data should the system fail. There is also Acer's QuickMigration feature that allows for updates and transfers of personal data between PCs thanks to a common Ethernet cable. Acer's eLock Management can place password protection on removable data devices, optical drives and other interfaces to prevent data theft.
Connections are just as similar and include HDMI output, six USB ports, gigabit Ethernet, and a legacy PS/2 port. There is also a multi-format card reader, and Wi-Fi is appropriately standard.
The Acer Veriton N260G is now available, with prices starting at $399 for the base model.
