Razer intros 17-button mouse for MMO games

Razer Naga

Razer made its contribution to the Gamescom expo today through the Naga. Positioned as the ideal mouse for massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, the USB controller has a unique 12-button pad on the side in addition to the regular five-button layout common to most mice. The sheer range lets any app that supports assigning custom mouse buttons, as well as Razer's own Windows software, use a wide range of shortcuts for very specific tasks. It's particularly tailored to World of Warcraft, where the buttons can replace the usual weapon and spell keys.

The Naga is relatively high-performing regardless of context and has a 5,600DPI laser sensor for tracking. Razer only says the mouse is shipping "soon" but promises it will be available worldwide for $80.

    Only 17 ?

I think if I had tried something like this when I was playing WoW I wouldn't have gotten past level 20.

How in the world would you keep from accidently hitting the wrong buttons? Seems like if you have to look at it then the keyboard is a better option.

    agreed with Slimgem

That keypad is dumb. You can't use it by feel alone. Would have been better to put two or three rows of buttons under each of four fingers.

I'll stick with my Belkin Nostromo N52. A lot cheaper, too.
