XPERIA X2 May Show Next Wk

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X2 smartphone may finally have its public appearance next week if a rumor bears fruit. A press launch has purportedly been "confirmed" by SEMC Blog for next week that would center on just one device, likely involving the new smartphone. Other details aren't provided and potentially cast doubt on the claim.

The X2 itself is known to be a significant upgrade to the X1 with Windows Mobile 6.5 and new panels that, among other things, would support the PS3's Remote Play feature. It would also get much more RAM (512MB) and jump from a 3.2-megapixel camera to 8.1 megapixels. A new directional pad and a larger, reworked keyboard are similarly on tap for the design.

Other candidates include the Android-based Rachael or a final launch for the Satio.

    Well, I can see they're

not about to give up with the Xperia X2. Just keep slapping on better hardware specs yet keeping that same old WinMo platform. Sony had enough problems will the X1 due to hard to get parts. I hope they fare better with the X2. It'll be rather expensive to attract a lot of buyers, but running WinMo is going to make it almost impossible to sell. WinMo is just falling out of favor thanks to Android.
