PSP with UMD drive due?

An N4G forums user who also claims to work in Sony PS3's hardware department and has leaked info on the slim PS3's specs and capabilities that proved true is now saying Sony is developing a PSP with a UMD drive, the PSP-4000. In an IGN forums post, it's said that the PSP-4000 will replace the existing PSP-3000 system "sooner than you realise," and quashing rumors that the new, UMD drive-less PSP Go is the replacement.

The source then goes on to downplay the significance of his news, saying that like the slim PS3, the new gaming system is "nothing to actually get excited about." Some expected Sony to discontinue the use of UMD to deliver game and movie content and instead move to an all-download model, but if this rumor proves true, it will dispel these myths, at least for the time being.

The source adds that "something strange" will start to happen with Sony's newer PS3s in the coming months, or sooner, without giving any hint as to what this could mean.
