OCZ Agility EX SSDs

OCZ has recently announced the upcoming release of its 2.5-inch Agility EX series of solid state drives, which it touts as the most affordable single-level cell (SLC) solid-state drive on the market. SLC flash drives are usually more expensive than denser multi-level cell (MLC) drives, but also outperform them in terms of speed their long-term lifespans.

The 64GB Agility EX SSD has a maximum read speed of 255MBps and a 195MBps write speed peak, while sustained write speed is rated at 100MBps. It has 64MB of onboard cache as well. As with any SSD, the Agility is inherently more shock resistant and energy efficient than a traditional hard drive as it lacks moving parts; OCZ's model has 2W of operating power consumption and 0.5W during standby. It also supports RAID configurations.

OCZ will initially release the Agility EX in a 64GB capacity for $399, but hasn't said whether or not it's already available.
