Archos Android tablet

Prices and storage capacities have slipped for Archos' upcoming Android-based Internet tablet. B&H listed the entire series ahead of schedule, although the search listings were later removed, according to ArchosFans.com forum member Swordfish. The devices will be available in 16GB, 32GB, 160GB and 500GB capacities.

Although the B&H pages did not provide much additional information, the company listed a price of $294 for the 16GB model, $370 for 32GB, $310 for 160GB, or $420 for 500GB. If the pricing is accurate, the flash-based Archos tablets would be competitively priced with the current 32GB iPod touch which retails for $400. The HDD offerings could also attract customers with large large libraries of videos.

The tablet is expected to get 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an FM transceiver. FCC filings pointed to an A5S model, along with an A5H that might be a reference to the HDD version or a different variation.

Archos is set to launch the new Android platform on September 15th.
