Dell U2410 and ST2410 LCDs

Dell in a low key move has brought two new 24-inch desktop displays to its home country. The UltraSharp U2410 is its first almost fully color-accurate display at the size thanks to its IPS (in-plane switching) panel and covers both 100 percent of the sRGB color space as well as 96 percent of Adobe RGB. It has color calibration of its own and produces a relatively vivid 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1,000:1 static) with 12-bit internal color rendering.

The panel supports DisplayPort, DVI and HDMI for fully digital sources as well as component, RCA and VGA for analog. The display should be available today for $599.

A budget alternative, the ST2410, is also new and uses a less color-rich TN (twisted nematic) panel as well as a lower 50,000:1 contrast ratio. It also has reduced input with DVI, HDMI and VGA as its options. The screen is already available and costs $259.

    sounds expensive but

$599 might sound expensive unless you try to buy it in Europe where it will cost you the dollar converted sum of $975... Now that's expensive!
