Photos reveal real-world look, specs of HTC Leo

Smartphone features unusually large display

A Polish website claims to acquired the first photos of the Leo, an upcoming HTC smartphone. The device is immediately distinguishable through its touchscreen, which covers nearly the entire front surface and is believed to measure approximately 4.3 inches. Leaked data points to resolutions up to 480x800, and the phone is likely to use a resistive touchscreen, in light of the presence of Windows Mobile 6.5. Only WM7 will introduce support for more sensitive capacitive screens.

Data also supports the presence of a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, as well as 320MB of RAM and 512MB of built-in ROM. Connectivity options are generally unknown, outside of Bluetooth 2.1; given otherwise high-end specifications, however, rumors of HSPA broadband are likely to be correct. It is likewise unsure if the Leo's camera is rated at five megapixels.

An unusual aspect of the photos is the Leo being marked as the "Pro Three." While the Leo name may only be code, the Pro series has traditionally used physical keyboards. There is no sign of one on the Leo, which could mark a radical departure.

Past reports have hinted at an October release date for the device.
