Wii at $200 says Toys R Us

Nintendo will finally react to Microsoft and Sony price cuts with one of its own, a Toys R Us flyer leaked on Monday appears to show. The ad obtained by Kotaku shows the Wii dropping from $250 to $200 for the regular bundle, which packs in Wii Sports. The cut would allegedly take effect for the last week of September, when the ad for the new price is supposed to run.

Nintendo has declined to either confirm or deny the flyer's accuracy.

The cut would be Nintendo's first since the Wii launched in November 2006 and would not only react to the $300 slim PS3 and Xbox 360 Elite but also Nintendo's own sales. The past few months have shown the first clear signs of cooling demand for the Wii, and rivals' price drops were enough that the PS3 outsold the Wii despite years of the reverse normally being true. The current $50 price gap is the smallest since the current wave of consoles launched and has particularly favored the PS3's built-in Blu-ray and Wi-Fi.
