ViewSonic intros HDTVs, some double as monitors

TV and monitor maker ViewSonic on Tuesday introduced six new LCD HDTVs, ranging from a 20-inch set that can double as a computer monitor to a 42-inch HDTV. Starting from smallest to largest, the 20-inch VT2042 has a resolution of 1600x900, the 23-inch VT2342 gets a 1920x1080 screen while the VT2645 has 1366x768 pixels in its display.

The two smaller units of the threesome have dynamic contrast ratios of 10,000:1, along with 5ms response times. Either ships with a tilt base and SRS TruSurround HD audio support. The larger VT2342 has three HDMI connections to connect to Blu-ray players and gaming consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The VT2645 also has SRS TruSurround HD audio processing.

Both the VT3245 and VT3745 have 1080p resolution, along with a 5ms response time and 4,000:1 static contrast ratios, along with 3D video processing and SRS TruSurround XT surround sound technology. Each has an image scaling feature that lets users choose from Normal, Movie, Full Screen or none.

Last of all, the 42-inch N4285 also gets a 1080p panel and a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1. It has advanced image scaling and an Eco Panel for efficient energy conservation.

The VT2342 is now available, priced at $349, while the VT2042, VT2645, and VT3745 will all ship later in September, priced at $299, $449 and $799, respectively. The VT3245 and N4285 will be out in October, priced at $649 and $999, respectively.
