WebOS 1.2 said to be ready next week

Palm may be ready to launch WebOS 1.2 on the Pre as early as next week, an unnamed source told PreCentral. The company is also expected to debut its new app portal on September 24th, which would fit with the previously announced time-frame.

The WebOS update is expected to get a variety of small improvements to the copy features, global search, LinkedIn, inline images, photo album sync and expanded Bluetooth support for car kits. A leaked page on Sprint's support page also claims v1.2 will enable filter search in e-mail, file downloading in the browser, and Amazon MP3 downloads via WAN.

The App Catalog will enable users to purchase content directly from the phone interface. In a similar way to Apple's App Store, the business model puts less control in the hands of the carrier.

Both launch dates have yet to be officially announced by Palm.

App Store trouble

The first thing Palm has to do is fix the problem with the Pre that limits how many apps you can get. I have 7.1 gigs of space left but can get no more apps without deleting one or some of the apps I already have so who would buy and app to replace an app they bought only to have do delete another paid app to get another paid app. Houston they have a problem
