Omnia Pro B7330 and Omnia Win 6.5 update

Samsung today pledged itself to Windows Mobile with both a major software update and a new phone. All of its current Windows Mobile devices, including the Omnia II I8000, Omnia Lite B7300, Omnia Pro B7610, and Omnia Pro B7320, will be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5 for free. The update availability will vary by the carrier but at the earliest should be available sometime after the official debut of the new OS on October 6th.

To mark the occasion, Samsung is also launching a new conventional QWERTY smartphone, the Omnia Pro B7330. It stands as a sequel to the B7320 and should have a slightly larger and sharper 2.6-inch 320x320 screen, support for 7.2Mbps HSPA-based 3G, a 3-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. Most music is handled through the microSDHC slot but should be bolstered by an FM radio.

The B7330 should be available in October, although Samsung hasn't named carriers or detailed whether the phone will support the 850MHz or 1,700MHz bands needed for HSPA with North American carriers. The Omnia II is already confirmed as launching with Verizon.

    in a nutshell.

the problem with the wireless carriers is this qualification:

"update availability will vary by the carrier"

This is for a FREE upgrade.
