Atlona adapter converts DVI to Mini DisplayPort
Atlona has recently introduced its DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter, the AT-DP200, that finally lets users convert their notebook or other dual-link DVI video outputs into the Mini DisplayPort connection found on Apple's 24-inch LED Cinema Display. Up until now, it was impossible for users of Macs before the unibody MacBooks, or any Windows-based PC, to easily use the Apple-developed but now standard output format with their peripherals.
The opposite conversion, from Mini DisplayPort to DVI, has been possible thanks to a wide range of products for some time now.
Atlona's adapter will send through 1920x1200 or 1280x800 video resolutions and maintains EDID and HDCP information from a computer's onboard video hardware, so no copyright issues will stop the video feed. Atlona's testing ensures that all older Mac computers will be compatible with any Mini DisplayPort-equipped monitor, although these don't support HDCP.
The AT-DP200 will begin shipping on September 29th, priced at $179.
