Audiovox in-car entertainment includes PS2

Audiovox on Tuesday said it will soon begin offering its VOD10PS2 Mobile Video PlayStation 2 rear-seat entertainment system. The first of its kind product integrates the gaming console into the overhead console that sports a 10.2-inch, 16:9 drop down monitor. There is also a dome light, and all wires are hidden out of sight when the system is installed.

Also included is a pair of wireless gaming controllers and two fold-flat IR wireless headphones, along with Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando and Hot Shots Golf 3 PS2 games. The PS2's built-in hardware support handles CD and DVD playback. A remote control allows drivers or front seat passengers to control the system. A 16-channel FM modulator lets game or movie sounds travel through the vehicle's sound system. To match most vehicle interiors, the system includes both shale and pewter colored finishing trim kits.

The system will be available branded as either an Audiovox or Advent unit and will be sold at an unspecified nearby date in car dealerships and electronics retailers. The system costs $950.
