Fonera 2.0n now in US

Fon today formally rolled out its once-teased Fonera 2.0n router. The new update adds 802.11n Wi-Fi speeds but is better known for adding built-in clients for several services independently of computers. Owners can upload content to Facebook, Flickr, Megaupload, Picasa, RapidShare and YouTube when the relevant computer is turned off; it can also download BitTorrents and send Twitter updates to signal when a transfer has been completed or a guest connects to the public hotspot.

The router has a USB port strong enough to support multiple devices and will share most any external hard drive or printer through the local network. It can also use a USB 3G modem as the source for its Internet connection, brings four Ethernet ports for wired clients, and has an open-source platform for developers to add their own apps.

Fon ships the router itself for $99, but those who live in the US and certain other countries can use the company's signature revenue sharing to resell guest access to a public-only portion of their networks.
